Social media meetings (i)

Since opening our small business here in Korcula we have met some great people.  For me this has been one of the highlights of the year, whilst I am still struggling to learn some more of the Croatian language talking with visitors to our store has been a great way of socialising for me. I enjoy meeting people and have certainly enjoyed the compliments on the store.

As some of you will know, our tourist season here in Korcula is a short one. We closed Seba Dizajn in the middle of October and since then I have been focusing on enhancing the social media side of our business while Doka has been creating some beautiful new jewellery for our 2012 season.

We had a lovely Christmas here in Korcula (my first Croatian Christmas!) & tomorrow we are heading to Berlin to meet with family there and celebrate the arrival of 2012 with them. FUN times!
It will be interesting to be back in a big city and even more interesting will be the chance to meet a friend that we have made via facebook, Helen is a graphic designer who lives in Berlin.  She is responsible for our fantastic be-jeweled Christmas tree featured in my Christmas post it has been a lot of fun chatting with Helen and I just know we are going to have a great time when we meet in Berlin.

This will be the first time that I have met someone who I have only been in contact with on-line via various social media.  Have you met anyone in person thru your social media contacts? Would love to hear about your experience, please leave a comment below.

    i am so looking forward.
    i am excited as hell.

i have met people i met on the internet before.
some of my closest friends used to be members of a forum i used to contribute to.
tomorrow i am going to meet cass – she lives in berlin too and we met in that very forum.
now we are friends for 4 years now.

some of the girls are “just” phone partners, some pop around for a visit once or twice a year.

but no matter where we met, we are good friends and stay in touch.
even better sometimes or closer as with people i met at university or school …

Hi Sheril, thanks for joining us. I think often media focuses on the bad experiences and it is nice to have a positive flow of conversation. Happy New Year to you too.

  3. I love this topic! Yes, I’ve met many people via social media; however, I don’t remember if I did business with a few of them first. I first met Michelle Shaeffer two years ago at a function. At this same function I met one of my mentors, Donna Kozik, for the very first time. And recently, I met several people who are part of a Facebook group that attended a 4-day marketing seminar (where I got to see Michelle again). It was awesome and amazing. What a great experience you’ll have meeting Helen in person — and how fun!! All the best to you and safe travels.
