We have just had a visit from one of our New Zealand nieces. Alexa spent her ‘summer holidays’ at school near Paris and included Korcula as a stop on her way home. It was so wonderful to see her, I love an airport meet and greet. We were blessed with stunning weather on several of the days she spent here, and the perfect activity for indoor days…… jewellery making!
Alexa’s knitting and sewing skills are both excellent and Doka was very impressed with how quickly she was able to replicate the dainty filigree work that he showed her. Alexa and Doka decided that a bracelet would be a great piece to create to showcase several different filigree techniques.
Doka created the floral frames that would be the basis of this unique bracelet and together he and Alexa filled the frames with 5 different filigree patterns. Each silver thread used in creating the different patterns is only .4mm wide and working them into any recognisable shape or pattern is much harder than it looks!
The finished piece is stunning! Well done Alexa, we look forward to your next visit and our next project together. If you would like to see some more of our filigree work please click hereto link to our website, sebasilver.com.
In June 2011 my wife and I opened a small store on the beautiful Dalmatian Island of Korcula. Our store (Seba Dizajn) showcases stunning filigree jewellery, all work is made on site offering you the fascinating chance to see filigree jewellery being made.
