Distractions galore – the tale of a neglected blog.

Moving to Korcula has been one of the more wonderful experiences of my life, during the summer we are blessed with waking to a blue sky 99% of the days and walking to work my view generally looks something like this;

A typical Korcula morning.

A typical Korcula morning.

I don’t think many things compare to the smell of the sea in the morning and the feel of the sun on your back and this spectacular view.  Of course’ there are many other places in the world where you can experience something similar, but this is our place and I appreciate being here on an almost daily basis.

I am a long way from home (NZ) and that can sometimes be hard, thankfully the communication options that are available to us now make keeping in touch very easy, and next month one of my brothers and his wife are visiting – I can’t wait to see them here and for Gordon to see and experience where his ‘wee sister’ is living.

Last summer we were blessed with a number of visitors and this year the visits, and distractions, continue….. the best kind of distraction.

First our sister-in-law and her delightfully cute daughter arrived;

A beautiful distraction.

Then Walter arrived from Hamburg –

Then as luck would have it I met a wonderful new friend, Elaine and now that I have someone to meet for coffee or tea I seem to be spending a little more time outside – thanks Doka (& Elaine).  Along with Elaine there is this wonderful ‘gallery’ of girls;

We have also had family from Berlin visiting and one of my cousins from England; and of course there is still work to be done;
